We’ve had some enquiries recently from cloud integrators and businesses wanting to know more about what Wink Reports can do for them and their clients. Specifically, we are being asked about how Wink Reports works with existing business software to create custom reports accessible from the cloud. So over the coming weeks, we’re going to be publishing a series of blog posts which will answer these enquiries in more detail, and will outline some of the capabilities of Wink Reports.

When we receive a service request from a client, we first examine what existing software and databases they have in place. Business data can come from a variety of sources, including databases, spreadsheets, cloud-based accounting applications such as Xero, or service management applications such as ServiceM8.

Our next step is to listen to what their business reporting needs are. Once we have determined what they want to report on, we consider the sources of the data. Depending on the nature of the business, this might mean that the data used is coming from multiple sources. For example, Xero and WorkflowMax. A mock-up report is created to show the client what they can expect their report to look like and what information it will provide.

Next, we check that our connectors are able to access and synchronise with the data sources. Connectors allow Wink Reports to retrieve data from existing software and cloud services, in order to integrate it into a custom report. We conduct testing to ensure that our connectors are working as intended while liaising with our client to ensure that the correct information is being generated for the report.

Finally, the report goes online and is enabled for use by the client! As the client uses the report, they might want to make some changes if their business grows, or they find that there is additional information that they want to include in their reports. We are usually able to accommodate these requests and we are always happy to discuss them with you.
